15 DECEMBER 2016
We would like to thank all of our long-standing and new loyal clients for their support this year. Our gratitude also goes out to our esteemed suppliers and everyone who ran projects and events for which we donated trees.

TreeCo has grown in so many ways; without you and our team, this would not have been possible. We are closed for the December holidays as of today and will re-open on the 10th of January 2017.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
6000 Reasons for Species Diversification
6000 Reasons for Species Diversification

A key component of a healthy urban forest, especially one on your estate, is tree species diversity. Tree diversity within an urban forest landscape provides functional, aesthetic benefits as well as biological and ecological advantages, the foremost of which is greater stability of the ecosystem you've created.

Our new range of about 6 000 x 20L trees will almost be ready for delivery this December, which means that when you increase your species diversity with TreeCo, you are automatically restoring the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning of your landscape

This month's TreeCo news is the exciting addition of a whopping 9000 saplings to our stock-list following the hustle and bustle of last month's improvements. With our new babies settled in the TreeCo nursery, we're making use of the breathing space to develop our new production lines' areas and, of course, cannot wait for the end result. Book a TreeCo tour with Rudi to explore our new 20L, 100L and 200L blocks.

Our sincerest apologies for the delay in getting this, TreeCo's first newsletter of the year, to you. We have been catching up on all our admin, which has been on a steady roll since we reopened earlier this month.

Jean and Rudi have been on the road constantly with deliveries which is good for business of course, but more importantly, good for the environment, and your gardens' growing success.

So many thanks to you, our clients for keeping the Cape green with TreeCo trees. With such a positive and busy start to the new year, we are really looking forward to 2017 and we wish you a prosperous new year too. Contact Rudi or Mireze directly for quotes or orders: 082 829 5543.
Always Growing

Playing the long game is, of course, a key element in running a successful nursery like ours. Looking ahead to the future, we've just finished planting 100 Syzygium guineense into 250l bags so that they'll be ready for sale in February 2017.

But these awesome evergreens are not the only new TreeCo additions which need time to grow and have their roots fill their growbags – our 20l production line area is now populated with 2500 new perfectly grown specimens. This area will eventually house 10 000 trees and shrubs ready for purchase because here at TreeCo, we are literally always growing. Watch us in progress on our Facebook page.

TreeCo has just been on another awesome adventure with Kayden Kleinhans this month as we sponsored the renowned filmmaker, adventurer, eco-warrior and father of the Global Wheeling Foundation with 100 stunning specimens for the Mitchells Plain area. We’ve been sponsoring Kayden, who is now 9000 kilometres into his second revolution circumnavigating the widest point of the globe (which is a whopping 44 000 kilometres), for five years and will continue to do the good work with him for the next few years to come. Take a peek at this project on our Facebook page.

From one good cause to another, TreeCo partnered up with Haw and Inglis and were contracted to supply and plant 19 beautiful 1000L Harpephyllum caffrum (wild plums) in Heideveld CRU. At this point we’d like to thank VVD Projects who have been in charge of the irrigation of these beauties. And from one thank you to another: thank you, Cobus from Earthworm, for his business support when we delivered the colossal 2000L Harpephyllum caffrum in Big Bay; and, as August is Women’s Month, we’d like to thank the most special (and only) lady in the TreeCo team, Lizelle, for giving TreeCo a feminine touch.

We always go out of our way to create the a most magical miniature forest for clients (and their kids) to explore while observing the outstanding quality of TreeCo trees.

Join us, our co-suppliers and colleagues on the 9th of September at the Grand Arena, Grandwest in Goodwood for the next Cape Green Trade Day; we look forward to seeing you there.

The 18th of July, Mandela day, signifies a day of giving back for all South Africans. TreeCo was happy to give back by donating 20 trees. Trees were planted around the sports field and jungle gym at the Kensington SHAWCO Community Centre. SHAWCO foundation will also be planting 20 trees around schools in underprivileged areas and TreeCo is thrilled to support such a wonderful initiative.

In the spirit of giving, TreeCo is honoured to have started our biggest project to date – working in Manenburg to boost the morale of the community.

TreeCo also had a lot of fun on the 2nd of August at the Green Forest Trail Run, where Rudi kindly donated an Olea africana as a prize and what a prize it is!

It has been a wonderful and enriching time for TreeCo, with more to come, such as the expansion of our range and supplying plants well in the 4L range.

Around mid Feb we were asked to assist the wonderful people of Grassy Park SPCA to upgrade their premises. Thanks to donors’ funding, they have an amazing, top-class facility and are in the process of upgrading their premises which houses, as you know, abused and unwanted animals. Included in the upgrade is an awesome, shady play area for the animals. TreeCo has been tasked with greening the adoption centre, creating borders, and planting a little forest in which the vets and staff can recharge after a tough day. Take a look at the good work in action on our Facebook page.
You are awesome!
